Sukhdev Manghandas from the city of Garhi Yasin, came to Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib.

Sukhdev shared with Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib that he was fulfilling his duties towards his family and conducting his business with honesty by following the teachings. He also mentioned that he found happiness in helping the poor and needy.

Sukhdev told Saijan that One day, a man named Tilokchand from the city of Shikarpur approached Sukhdev seeking help. Tilokchand had gone bankrupt and was struggling to feed his family. Sukhdev helped him by providing food and lending him some money. When Tilokchand came back for more help, Sukhdev noticed the hopelessness in his eyes and decided to help him again.

Tilokchand came to Sukhdev for the third time and asked for some jewellery for his family to wear to a wedding. Sukhdev gave him the jewellery along with some money, but Tilokchand did not return it after the wedding. When Sukhdev confronted Tilokchand about the missing jewellery, he denied taking it and threatened to harm Sukhdev if he told anyone about it.

Sukhdev was deeply disturbed by the incident and felt discouraged from helping others in the future. He sought guidance from Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib.

After listening to Sukhdev’s story, Sant Satramdas Sahib smiled and spoke to him, “Bhai Sukhdev, you have done a good deed in the name of God and will always prosper in your life. Do not worry about what Tilokchand has done to you. Go and tell him that you will not tell anyone about this incident, but also inform him that you came to meet me and told me everything. I have advised you not to tell anyone about this incident.”

Sukhdev then left and conveyed Sant Satramdas Sahib’s message to Tilokchand. On hearing this, Tilokchand got angry and asked Sukhdev why he complained to Sant Satramdas Sahib and why he did not call for a Panchayat to solve the matter. Despite being angry with Sukhdev, Tilokchand became confused and unpleasant thoughts filled his mind, causing him to feel restless. He then decided to go to Sant Satramdas Sahib, who called Sukhdev to Raharki Sahib as well.

Sant Satramdas Sahib spoke to Tilokchand and said, “Dear son Tilokchand, people speak good and bad about us in this world. We like it when people speak well of us but cannot tolerate it when they speak ill of us. Human nature is such that we forget the good words spoken about us and only remember the bad things people say, which hurts our ego. We are so egoistic that we cannot handle our ego being hurt.

There are many people in this world who are helpless and needy. They pray to God to fulfill their needs, and God sends them to good people. These good people do what is necessary for the poor and needy in the name of God. God takes care of those who help these needy persons.

You went to Sukhdev with bad intentions and asked for help in the name of God. He helped you in the name of his Satguru. God will reward him for doing a good deed, but you cheated him by not admitting that you took his help. You are also refusing to return the gold ornaments he gave you. If he goes and tells people about your fraud, word will spread, and those who help the needy, helpless, underprivileged, and poor people in the name of God will stop helping them. Good people will miss the opportunity to earn goodness, and the needy will remain without help and suffer. You will be responsible for that sin, and you will have to suffer the consequences of your own karma. Because of your fraud, people who want to perform good deeds and those who deserve to get help will not be benefited. That is why I told Sukhdev not to tell people about this heinous incident.”

After listening to Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib’s sermon, Tilokchand was moved to tears and said, “Oh my beloved lord, you have blessed me with your divine and inspiring words, which have opened my eyes. Please bless me so that I too can become like Seth Sukhdev, who serves selflessly in the name of God.”

Tilokchand returned all the money and jewelry to Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib and asked for forgiveness. Sant Satramdas Sahib then returned the items to Sukhdev, who was grateful for getting his belongings back.

Sant Satramdas Sahib blessed Tilokchand with NAAM DAAN, which saved him from doing wrong things in his life. By accepting this precious gift, Tilokchand became an honest and hardworking person who started helping the poor and needy. The man who once used to cheat others was now supporting those who were less fortunate.

Sant Satramdas Sahib’s wisdom and guidance had transformed Tilokchand’s life, and he became a shining example of compassion and selflessness.
