One day when Saint Satramdas Sahib was going for his bhakti program, he saw some people were cutting the trees just for the sake of fun, and they were feeling very great about it.
When They got a little upset when Saint Satramdas Sahib came towards them. But still, they came forward to touch his feet. They could not give any satisfactory answer when they were asked the reason for cutting the trees.
Saint Satramdas Sahib Said ” these trees are connected to our lives. Trees are useful not only for humans but even for birds, animals and insects.
The beauty of trees is that ,who ever comes to them, get shelter from them under their shadow and the trees also satiate the people’s hunger by
offering tasty fruits and nuts to them.
A human can transform into a wonderful person if he adopts even a single quality from the trees. The tree bearing the most fruits bends itself thankfully towards the
Saint Satramdas Sahib said that when people get success in their lives they should become humble and polite, they should keep away from ego, give happiness to even those who have troubled them because God has blessed them with prosperity. So people should grow and prosper and become the shelter and shadow for their young ones.Trees provide shelter to humans and and shelter to birds and animals from the weather and even from their enemies. Many animals, such as squirrels, different kinds of birds and various other insects, live in trees. These animals are born in trees, raise their young ones in trees and trees provide food to them in the form of nuts, leaves, fruits, roots etc We see so many birds make their nests in the green trees and get the pleasant shade from them. A tree not only gives comforts from outside but blesses crores of creatures by providing place for them to live. We have seen that so many small small creatures live in their branches.
From this we learn that even we should give shelter to poor, orphans and widows and take care of them.
By inhaling carbon dioxide the poisonous gas which is harmful to the environment and giving us the life saving oxygen the trees teach us that one can face disappointments even after being good to every one but he must always give comforts to others
Trees are blessed by the beloved Lord for having such amazing good qualities and for giving life to everyone and that is why the regions where there are abundance of trees get rarely affected by the natural calamities.
Such regions are not affected by famine as there is no scarcity of water and lack of rainfall and the land is always green.
Due to plenty of trees we get a lot of rainfall and the soil becomes fertile and there is greenery every where and this fertile Soil allows the growth of abundant food crops and due to this humans as well as birds and animals become happy and prosperous.
Trees are God’s blessings so they should not be cut or pulled down.
Crores of creatures live in each and every tree, the whole world gets benefited from them and even the atmosphere and environment becomes pure because of trees.
By cutting even a single tree we commit the sin of destroying dwellings of crores of creatures.
The bad effect on the environment is a curse on us so we should not cut the trees but instead grow trees.
By growing trees we provide dwellings for crores of creatures. The small bushes and branches are used as food by many birds and animals. In many mountainous regions and the regions of deserts there are many such small herbs and shrubs that are life saving and are useful in curing many dangerous diseases in humans as well as in animals. In the regions of desert there are so many such herbs and shrubs which contain water and food and when the people, animals and birds and insects living in such regions consume them they do not feel hungry and thirsty for a long period of time.
Besides these herbs and shrubs the branches of trees their leaves flowers and fruits are used as food that gives good health and freshness. They are actually God given gifts.
We must try to grow them instead of destroying them and this cause will benefit you and you will always grow and prosper”.
After listening to the valuable teaching of Saint Satramdas Sahib all the people who were cutting the trees bowed down at his feet and asked for forgiveness and promised, that in future they will never cut and destroy the trees but will grow them.
Saint Satramdas Said, “The effort to increase the number of trees will bring greenery every where, and the lush greenery of the land will be soothing for everyone’s eyes. The God’s blessing will always shower on such a land and due to such a noble act you will always grow and prosper”.
