Sant Kanwarram Kanwarram Sahib was always eager to help his father at the shop and on the farm. He would even sell black-eyed peas (Kohar) in the streets. Kanwarram Sahib’s mother would give him some pots of black-eyed peas and in exchange, he would receive an equal number of pots of corn.

When Sai Satramdas Sahib visited Jarwar, the birthplace of Sant kanwarram Sahib, for the bhakti program, he noticed a young boy named Kanwar who was selling black eyed peas. Kanwar was only about 9 years old at the time. Sai Satramdas Sahib bought some black eyed peas from Kanwar and asked him how much he owed him.

To everyone’s surprise, Kanwar, a charismatic little vendor with a deep understanding of life, humbly asked the highly revered Saint Sai Satramdas Sahib if he could become his disciple and find shelter at his lotus feet instead of receiving payment for the black eyed peas.

Upon hearing this, Shahanshah Satguru Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib embraced Kanwarram Sahib and bestowed his blessings upon him.
The initial encounter between Sant Sai Kanwarram Sahib and his Satguru, Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib, marked the beginning of their relationship. Sant Kanwarram Sahib devotedly propagated the name of his Satguru, utilising the melodies of Mira, Lord Krishna, Kabir, and Shah Latif to praise him wherever he went.

In addition to being an exceptional spiritual vocalist, Sant Kanwarram Sahib was also a remarkable sant, carrying forward the teachings of his beloved Satguru, Sant Sai Satramdas Sahib.
